Terms & Conditions

1. Overview
Proof of Reality (“the Service”) lets users create cryptographic proofs that a physical-world scan happened, with hash-only public verification by default and optional retained files, location, and future hash anchoring. By using the Service, you agree to these terms.
2. Using the Service
You agree that you will not:
- Submit fraudulent, fabricated, replayed, or tampered scans;
- Scan private property, people, documents, or sensitive locations without permission;
- Use the Service to harass, defame, dox, surveil, or violate anyone’s rights;
- Attempt to bypass authentication, rate limits, disclosure controls, or minting logic;
- Use the Service in violation of applicable law, marketplace rules, or sanctions.
3. Proofs are evidence, not legal certificates
A proof can show that a scan and its cryptographic checks match the recorded data. It is not a legal certificate of ownership, authenticity, condition, valuation, provenance, or title. You are responsible for deciding whether a proof is sufficient for your use case.
4. Public verification
Each proof receives a verify ID. Anyone with that ID can call the public Verify API and receive the fields allowed by the proof’s disclosure level. Do not share a verify ID if you do not want third parties to query it.
5. User content and licence
You retain your rights in scans and proof artifacts you create. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive licence to store, process, reproduce, and serve those artifacts as needed to operate proof creation, verification, sharing, support, security, and future anchoring.
6. Public anchoring irreversibility
When proof hashes or daily roots are anchored to a public network, the published hashes and transaction metadata may become permanent public records. We can delete retained off-chain files we control, but we cannot erase public anchoring records.
7. Fees and availability
Some operations may require gas, storage, API quota, or third-party services. We may change limits, pause anchoring, rotate contracts, refuse abusive requests, or discontinue features when needed for security, reliability, compliance, or cost control.
8. Third-party services
The Service depends on third-party infrastructure including Cloudflare, Vercel, SpaceComputer Orbitport, Apple App Attest, and database/storage providers. Their outages, policy changes, or network conditions can affect the Service.
9. Source and licences
Separate software licences may govern code, SDKs, examples, or protocol components published by Proof of Reality. These terms govern hosted use of the Service.
10. No warranty
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, uninterrupted availability, or error-free operation.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Proof of Reality and its contributors are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages; loss of profits, data, goodwill, tokens, funds, or business opportunity; or damages arising from third-party services, blockchain networks, or marketplace decisions.
12. Changes
We may update these terms as the Service changes. Continued use after updated terms are posted means you accept the updated terms.
